How much MPG should i expect to gain from a cold air intake and a mandrel bent exhaust with my 240sx?

I have a stock 240sx, 1994, non turbo. I was wanting to get a cold air intake and mandrel bent exhaust to help with a little power, sound, and MPG. How many miles to a gallon should i expect from each of those? I’m trying to figure out how long it would take to for the items to pay for themself.

Nobody is going to be able to tell you exactly how much your MPG will improve but if I had to guess I would say 2-3 MPG.

I can only say that u won’t really gain more than u will be spending or using with ure power gain, because more power means more hard pedal accelaration, i can only mention u got a nice car even left stock…i respect nissan and been wanting to buy a 4cyl myself now even more with gas prices……..now with an acc. air system u give ure engine more air, and does or should improve ure gas milage.

Here is the deal –

Replace the air intake system with anything other than stock and I would expect a drop in fuel economy by 1-2 MPG maybe? Replace the exhaust with mandrel bent system – maybe keep the same, maybe not. You see the fuel economy of the car is all computer controlled. So you start changing things and it throws everything out of whack and next thing you know the computer cannot accuratly control the fuel mixture and you mileage drops. Now the exhaust will sound louder, the intake will probably also help it sound louder. But keep in mind that changing these is also a violation of Federal Emissions laws and would be considered tampering. So here is the best thing that you can do to help with you mileage – make sure the tires (the correct size) are properly inflated, make sure all of the maintenance items for the car are in good order and condition, make sure the tune up parts are in good condition, peform a fuel injection system cleaning (not the pour a bottle in the tank kind either).
