I know about some easy things, like keeping the trunk empty, to keep weight in the car down, but what else can I do?
increase MPG

Couple of things; first off, use those gas cleaners that you find in any auto store; it’s the additive that you put into your tank of gas after every fill up – do this for about 4 straight fill ups. Next, make sure the tires are equally pressurized to factory recommendations.
Next, make sure the oil is changed properly.
Next, change the air filter; I recommend K&N air filters; they provide more air through the engine, are reusuable, and provide 3 to 5 more horsepower to your car; they are more expensive, but after 3 air filter changes, they’ve paid themselves off.
After you’ve done all that and it’s still not getting good mileage, then you need to go get it checked out.
