What Used cars have best mileage?
I know the usual—don’t use the A/C or drive with all the windows down, stay at the speed limit, decrease frequent stops.
Can anyone tell me of some more things? I have a 2001 Ford Focus and I want to get the max mpg
with the gas prices ridiculously high.
The other answers have covered several similar things, but the #1 thing you can do is heed the speed limits, especially on the highway. For the latter, drive below 60 mph. The efficiency of any car decreases quickly once you get to speeds of 65, 70, and 75 mph. Plus, while on the highway, you should run the AC and NOT open your windows, as the added drag will result in gas loss. On residential or other roads under 50 mph, windows open are better than the AC on.
Trust me, I didn’t believe these tips either, but I have been practicing them for over a year and I am able to get another 20-30 miles per tank on my car. That’s about a 1-1.5 gallon savings which adds up over time.
